The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers. To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like
nothing will ever change. Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of

those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control. But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?

My Thoughts
This book is very entertaining it has non stop action and a very good story line. It has plenty of plot twist, deceit, betrayal, and superpowers. It reminds me of a chess game when each move is controlled by un unseen opponent.
Although it has all these great things going for it, it's similar to other series in this genre. There is a love triangle, a female coming into her powers in her late teens. I mean don't get me wrong it does make for a good story. There is also an imbalance of powers in the world of Mare barrow.
Overall I think that Red Queen is a great debut novel from Ms. Aveyard. It has complex villians and plenty of swoon worthy scenes. It is a mix of dystopia and fantasy. I actually did love this book. It was a quick read and as I've said very entertaining.

My Rating
