BILLIE BOBBLE MAKES A MAGIC WAND by R.S. Mellette | A Review | A Book Readers World

Title: Billy Bobble Makes a Magic Wand | Author: R.S. Mellette | Publication Date: December 8, 2014 | Publisher: Elephant’s Bookshelf Press | Pages: 284 | Recommended Ages: 10+

Book Description: “E = mc2 is no longer the most powerful force in the universe. Your wand is.” Twelve-year-old Billy Bobble and his best friend Suzy Quinofski didn’t mean to change the universe. Billy, a quantum physics prodigy, just wanted to find a way to help his hoarding, schizophrenic mother – and maybe impress a coven of older girls in high school.
Suzy, his intellectual equal, wanted to help her friend and cling to her last remnant of childhood, a belief in magic. Together they made Billy a real, working, magic wand, and opened a door to the Quantum World where thoughts create reality, and all things – good and bad – are possible.
                                                            My Thoughts
This book is absolutely awesome. I wasn't sure it would be when I first looked at the cover though. But from the first chapter I was so engrossed that I read this in  an afternoon into the night. Not for one moment was I bored.
The characters in this story are Suzy Quinofski who is from military family and a genius in her on right. Billy is who most of the story is centered around comes from a problem family. He is a Quantum physics genius and Suzy's best friend. At the age of twelve these two are in high school which brings into the plot all sorts perils. I think these two characters and the others are very well written and relatable.
Since, this book has a lot of science talk in it some people might think it daunting. I think for your average middle schooler, say 11 to 13 years old, they should still be able to get the meaning. Although they may not have been interested in Quantum Physics before  reading this maybe they will be after reading it.
This book touches on a lot of things that most books at this level do and others that aren't so often, bullying, fitting in, dealing with a parent with mental issues, and friendship. All in all this is an exceptionally well written story filled with action, magic, and science. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series?

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
